ITS
NO MORE A ROCKET SCIENCE
Today
(18.11.2022) marks a significant milestone in the Indian Aero Space
Industry. India’s first ever private
rocket [Vikram-S] developed by M/s. Sky Root was launched successfully from Sri
Harikota under the guidance of ISRO. Though the trajectory of ‘Vikram’ lasted
for 5 minutes with a peak altitude of 89 KMs it goes a long way in re-defining
the business of Aero space.
What is
the message that this significant launch gives?
(a)
Importance
of private participation: This has
proved that privatization is no more a rocket science. Inclusion of such a strategic element into
private sector clearly dozes off the fire in the belly of leftists/communists. It
also re-affirms the Govt’s policy of ‘’Minimum Government & Maximum
Governance’’.
(b)
Space
Technology: Presently career in space
technology is limited to ISRO. Now that a private launch has taken place, this
will encourage more young scientists to take up education in this field. After all,
astronomy was pioneered by mathematician Aryabatta 3600 yrs ago.
(c)
Business
Brotherhood: ISRO never saw M/s Sky
Root Pvt Ltd as their competitor.
Engineers of Skyroot were guided by ISRO which is a healthy business brotherhood
relationship. ISRO sees Skyroot as complimentary and not competitor. Being a banker for 2 ½ decades I would like
to put this context. It took around 4
decades to create strong private space in banking sector which was neither a strategic
nor a rocket science. But this initiative of allowing private company into
space has hardly taken 3 decades which is a welcome move.
(d)
Strategic
importance: India is looking down the
barrel with their neighbors like China & Pakistan. Latest buzz word being ‘contactless
war’ this move is a clear signal to the world that India is pulling up its
socks and is arming its sleeves.
